|
Fred Conover - PresidentIf you’re looking for a fine example of integration, look no further than Fred. After all, he’s the guy who somehow had the vision to bring this ragtag group of talented miscreants together. His management skills come honestly. He worked his way up the ranks of the Boston ad community as an account executive, and he discovered early on an affinity for knowing the difference between what his clients were asking for and what they really needed. Fred never shied away from suggesting it either, even when it wasn’t in his best interest or even his agency’s. But it was from that place of honesty that respect was forged and a trust was born. And based upon that trust, he was able to open his own shop in 1996 with clients that, impressively, to this day are still on our roster. Fred still has a steady hand in the day-to-day operations of most of our clients’ accounts. And will with yours as well. Fred is happily married to his wife, Kathy, and is completely infatuated with his granddaughter Sofia and niece Elizabeth. He also has a dog, named Hoosier, after Bobby Knight, his role model. Like we said, Fred runs a tight ship.
Oddity: Makes grilled cheese with aluminum foil and an iron. |

Chip Tuttle - PartnerChip’s got a rare gift for making you feel good about yourself, your business, even your new haircut. And more importantly, making others feel good about your brand. That attitude is felt in everything Chip does, which at CTP, is a little bit of everything. He’s a brand strategist and public relations guru for some of our top accounts, and our own personal Tony Robbins, sans the huge teeth. Chip started his career as a newspaper reporter and bartender, and to this day he still knows when to listen, when to offer some sage advice, and how to find just the right mix. It’s a magic he works with individuals, businesses, and many a brand. Including yours. Chip has fallen in love twice in his life. Once with his wife, Leslie, and once with the Boston Red Sox rookie centerfielder, Fred Lynn. He and Leslie are still an item and have three gorgeous kids, Libby, Annie and Will.
Oddity: Will spontaneously belt out any tune, at any time. |
|
Grant Pace - Executive Creative DirectorGrant’s big break in advertising came in a very big way. The Super Bowl, where a series of his spots for Anheuser Busch ran in a promotion called the Bud Bowl. It’s one of the most successful promotions in the history of advertising, so you may have heard of it. Since then, Grant’s creative reputation and ideas have only gotten bigger. His refreshing work for Miller Genuine Draft helped make that Cold-Filtered brew even cooler. He single-handedly put Audi back on the road in the US. He and Michael Jordan put plenty of Hanes underwear on all of our behinds. And his hilarious work for a pager company, SmartBeep, can still be seen on TV’s Most Outrageous Moments. Grant knows how to craft work that gets attention, gets talked about, gets a call and gets down to business. In short, he just plain gets it. And his next big break just might be for you. Grant has two cats, Harold and Maude, and two dogs, Roscoe and Bunker, who have all their shots. He also has a sweet beach house in North Carolina where family, friends and various wayward yogis come to unwind.
Oddity: My middle name is misspelled. |

Brian Heffron - Senior Vice PresidentBrian has a knack for bringing great success to the people he works with. He has helped clients tell the story of land mine detectors, wireless technology, finance, and real estate. And as his cameo appearance as an extra on Baywatch shows, Brian understands how to stay calm in a crisis. That valuable trait has helped clients when it hits the fan and they need to communicate with the public—a skill he honed handling local, national and international media in one of the nation’s busiest District Attorney’s offices, and later on Beacon Hill as Communications Director for the state’s then-Attorney General Tom Reilly. In addition to his years of PR and advertising experience, Brian brings a balanced, thoughtful and detailed approach to the way he manages his accounts and the agency’s PR team. And with a stint as a reporter on his resume as well, he’s not afraid to ask questions when warranted. Of course, it’s his answers that will make you grateful he’s on your team.
Oddity: Can catch $8.75 worth of quarters from his elbow. |

Steve Angel - VP New Business DevelopmentSteve’s interests include skiing, golf, and light construction. The heavy construction gets saved for the office, where he builds our clients’ brands as well as their companies. Steve provides the mortar with which we cement strong business relationships. Steve’s got some pretty solid foundations. He’s hammered out projects with clients such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Midway Games, and Dunkin’ Donuts. Before he graced CTP with his presence, he worked under the roofs of RDW Group in Providence as well as Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners in San Francisco. Steve’s 17 plus years of experience in PR, marketing, and advertising have given him the tools to create an integrated framework sturdy enough to support your business. We know you’ll find Steve’s craftsmanship remarkable once he’s built the bridge between our two companies.
Oddity: Nearly lost his voice forever as a child, because he was too loud (according to parents). |

Phyllis Maguire - Media DirectorPhyllis likes it when things are put in their proper place. So much so that dirty dishes left in the sink will keep her up at night. So imagine how she feels about making sure our clients’ ads are put in the right spot. As a media vet, Phyllis has helped some of the biggest brands in the country connect with their audiences. And after having found the perfect place at CTP, now she’s doing the same for our clients. Which is helping them sleep easier at night.

Mark Bappe - Creative DirectorIf you are a dog, cat, a homeless person or a child in need, you’ve probably benefited from Mark’s creativity. So you can trust that on your business, he’ll always go the extra mile.
Oddity: I love redheads. |
|
Peter Winch - VP, Account DirectorThe son of a well-known Boston Creative Director, it’s easy to say that Peter has the ad business in his blood. But we’ve asked doctors, and that’s medically impossible. Plus for him, advertising is more than part of his heritage. It’s a passion. And every day for the past 17 years he has combined this passion with his strategic skills to build brands such as Monster.Com, Titleist, Converse, Stanley, and Fleet Bank. Now he’s doing the same for our clients, and making sure they get the best creative product possible.

Kelly Brennan - VP Management SupervisorKelly describes her idea of nirvana as The Container Store. This applies well to her impressive resume, which is easy to sort out. In twelve years in the business, she’s managed brands from both the agency and client-side. And in categories ranging from retail to real estate. Her organized approach has benefited many Fortune 500 companies, most recently Nextel Communications. Kelly’s past work also includes a large array of letters including NCAA, NHL, MLB, NFL, NASCAR and the NTRA. Somehow, Kelly still found room to manage business with over 20 individual teams including the New England Patriots and the New York Rangers. Kelly’s packed away some impressive work, but she’s still got plenty of space for something with your name on it.

Mark Fredrickson - Senior AdvisorWhen you’ve managed as many agencies from the client side of the table as Mark has, you develop a pretty sharp sense of what works and what doesn’t. That’s what drew him to CTP after nearly three decades inside the executive suites of technology companies. It’s our ability to zero in on the things that will drive a client’s business forward, deliver measurable impact, and do it with style. As VP of both marketing and communications at EMC, Mark helped put the storage and cloud computing leader on the map as one of the world's strongest IT brands. Now he’s helping us help a new generation of growth companies make their own splash.
Oddity: Been to 43 consecutive Fenway Park Opening Days (yeah, this started really young) |
|
Todd Graff - Senior Account DirectorTodd comes to us from the Tar Heel state, where he spent his early professional years as a sportswriter for the Greensboro News & Record. There he quickly developed an affinity for covering golf events after his first links assignment: Tiger Woods’ historic victory at the ’97 Masters. Tiger’s dramatic 12-stroke victory not only offered Todd a good lead in his next column, it also led to numerous national and state writing awards. And, as it turns out, a move to Boston to head up the golf division at CTP. Todd plays to a 5 on the course, but when it comes to crafting public relations programs for our various golf clients, he’s every bit as good as Tiger on the back nine at Augusta.
Oddity: Spent two nights sleeping in a Ford Focus to play Bethpage Black. |
|
Jay Courtney - Creative DirectorTo put it briefly, Jay is a good writer because he’s a good listener. In fact, if you’re in a meeting with Jay and he isn’t speaking, that’s because he’s listening. About your brand, your competition, your marketing philosophy, or your daughter’s soccer game. Whatever you happen to be talking about. Jay has put his well-honed listening skills to work for a plethora of clients. From international giants like HSBC Bank to American icons like General Motors to passion brands like Steinway & Sons and Sam Adams. He’s handled the messages of big clients such as Gillette, Duracell, Wal-Mart, The Breeders’ Cup, and Eastern Bank and every time, he’s shown that he truly knows how to deliver. All while making quite a splash with our clients.

As an assistant media planner at a small design firm, she quickly made a name for herself and was promoted as the sole media planner/buyer for the agency’s top national client.
